The Homebuilding and Renovation Edinburgh Show
The Highlands Small Communities Housing Trust (HSCHT) attended the Homebuilding and Renovation Show in Edinburgh to inform people of the Self Build Loan Fund and Scotland’s Self and Custom Build Portal.
The Homebuilding and Renovation Show was a two day event held at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh. The show was organised to help those who are planning or thinking about doing their own self build or renovation. There were over a hundred exhibitors from all different industries offering a range of products and services. The stands varied from energy systems to garden rooms. It was evident to say there was a stand for any self build or renovation need.
In addition to the 100+ exhibitors, there were also free talks running throughout the course of both days. There was an array of subjects covered at the show, some of the talks included: “A beginners guide to building your own home”, “Planning Permission: How to find your way through the planning maze” and “Choosing An Architect: what you need to know if you’re thinking of using an architect and what to ask when meeting for the first time”. People were also able to book free one on one advice sessions at the Advice Centre. The sessions available were: Ask the Expert, Ask the Architect, Ask the Builder and the Planning Clinic.
HSCHT had a good attendance at their stand both days, with a lot of interested for the Self Build Loan Fund in particular. Those who visited the stand were also able to get the first glimpse of Scotland’s Self and Custom Build Portal, as it went live just days before the show. It was clear that there is a great demand to self or custom build a home. HSCHT aims to help those who want to build their own homes by providing advice, guidance and support through Scotland’s Self and Custom Build Portal and the Self Build Loan Fund.
